A touching story from the Orange County Fair
Christine,
Yesterday was my first stint at the Fair and I had a really nice time knitting with Joy and Judi. The highlight was when a woman in a wheelchair stopped to say hello. Her husband was pushing her and her two young children were walking along side. She wore a summer hat to shade her bald head. She told us that she only has two chemo sessions to go and she’ll be done and that she has four KOL caps that kept her warm and comfortable during the cooler weather. Her husband bought four of our bracelets for each of them to wear and also made a small donation. He looked at each of us and said a sincere thank you for what we do.
I know that we receive more in thanks than we give in time when we make these caps, but now it’s personal for me and that was a moment I’ll always treasure.
Warm regards, Becky
